Flossing

If you never had gum disease; if you have perfect dental restorations, no bad contacts, a healthy diet; if you understand all the hows, whys, and whens of oral hygiene and are faithful to your hygiene program — you may never need to floss. Only a few percent of the population fall into this category.

Flossing removes food, breaks up plaque formations, cleans the teeth, and massages the gum.  All other parts of the teeth and gums belong to the brush, So now you can see why you need to do both — brush and floss. You can floss anytime, but if you are brushing and flossing, floss after you brush.
